Beef Cattle - Feb/Mach calving. Sold as "Sappy milk fed vealers" in December each year, either 'Over the Hooks' or as stores in the Pakenham saleyards. However, there is much farm infrastructure that could suit alternative operations. The farm includes 50 acres of old growth forest bushland that may be suitable for hives.
Hayshed, woolshed, cattle yards, machinery shed, tool room, tractor shed, piggery, grain or stockfeed silo, single stand milking shed, pump shed, 2 x 9000 litre water tanks, Claas 76HP tractor with FEL, Nobili mulcher, slasher, Robinson rear bale feeder, hay ring, silage bale handler.
What is the opportunity?
Probably sharefarming agreement, but open to suggestions
On farm, there is a quite old cottage (no heating other than an open fireplace, but there's plenty of wood) that is currently tenanted.
Is the farm currently profitable?
The last two years sold the steer vealers at >$2000 each . The heifer vealers have sold at approx $1800 each.
Buying more Springers to calve down and retain for ongoing animal production.
Currently only 25 cows on farm as I transition to retirement. Have previously peaked at 57 cows with calves at foot.
What markets are currently being sold to
Either 'Over the Hooks' or to saleyards
