What have you been doing to get farm ready?

To get farm ready I am working as an Overseer on properties total of 15,000 acres. I have been working in agriculture all of my employment, firstly growing up on a property, then going away to an Agricultural College, back home to be a fencing contractor to then working as a solo contractor to all the local farmers - mustering, planting, harvesting, cattle work, sheep work, general farmhard & maintenance. Whilst contracting and growing up on a property I have gained alot of experience in agriculture and primary producing.

Why are you passionate about farming?

We are both very passionate about farming, our aim is to own and operate a cropping and cattle property in Queensland. Agriculture is the back bone of Australia and we would love to be able to put our skills and knowledge we have gained over the years into our own farm to keep this country running. Having grown up on a property it makes it very hard not to love farming and we would love to provide that for our kids.

Best days of being a farmer:

Our dream farm is located in Queensland with enough irrigation and dry land cropping to supply our local saleyards and farmers throughout the district with hay throughout the year, we want a good quality line of cattle that are high in demand and perform well. On our best days we want to be able to drive around our property and look at the lush crops & check our cows and calves.
