What have you been doing to get farm ready?

1. We quit our jobs in the mines and volunteered at Horsemanship Downunder for 3 months - during this time we also found harvesting work 2. We applied for farmhand / stationhand positions and have been employed as property managers for 7200 acres for the last 2 and a half years. 3. We have now sold our family home ready to put this money towards purchasing our own farm. 4. We have taken advantage of attending all the local field days, Local Land Services information sessions, attended sales, attended training days and have been actively searching for our own property for the last 9 months.

Why are you passionate about farming?

We both have a love for animals and for our country. We want to see Australian farms remain owned and operated by Australians. We have a passion for delivering excellent living conditions for our animals until their last day. We are passionate about the quality of the land and ensuring good practices are maintained to ensure the future of farming. We have a drive to succeed and share our success with our family and friends and put back to the local community.

Best days of being a farmer:

This Is Us!!! Our fences are horse high and bull strong. Our pastures are being rotated to keep a good ground coverage. We are located within 3 hours from the East Coast of Australia and from our purpose built homestead, we can hear the running waters of our creeks. Behind the house our chooks are scavenging in the garden, our dogs are soaking up the sun and our horses are grazing. We are farming upto 500 head of cattle with feed crops sown for harvesting. Our best days see us riding our horses to do stock, water and fence checks, taking our dogs out with us and teaching children the farming life. This is not a dream for us - THIS WILL BE US!!!
