What have you been doing to get farm ready?

For the past 5 years I have been dedicated to building my knowledge and experience in all facets of small scale regenerative farming. I have studied in the disciplines of permaculture, Holistic Management, Organic and Biological farming. Over the past 5 years I have been an instrumental part in setting up Possum Creek Open Range eggs and Byron Creek Farm both small scale Regenerative farms in the Northern Rivers of NSW. This has given me a wealth of knowledge and experience in setting up farms from scratch, building more sustainable, ethical and labor efficient systems in the paddock then delivering premium products to local markets.

Why are you passionate about farming?

I Believe a real need for change within the food system from the way we produce food to the way we consume and connect to our food. I get very excited about building better regenerative production land systems and educating consumers on better ways we can produce and consume food. Huge change is required and I get a huge amount of satisfaction in taking on this challenge, building a more sustainable andmore intelligent future. I am passionate about farming the right way as much as I am educating and connecting with people around regeneratively farmed produce.

Best days of being a farmer:

No more then 30 min from a nice surf break with a great little community to connect with and sell into as well as other large markets not too far away, would be the ideal ;) My days are early and can be long but always space for some time to enjoy nature ( either land or sea) and be social. I farm a mix of chickens and cattle with a small orchard integrated into the chickens for eggs and/or meat. There is also some other poultry such as quail amongst the productive orchards of avocados, mangoes, macadamias and other fruit trees that may suit the specific farm. The best days are spent tending to the animals enjoying the space I work in getting to the beach and prepping up for an enjoyable farmers market the next day.
