What have you been doing to get farm ready?

Steve has a diploma in livestock nutrition, a bachelor degree in agriculture and a research masters in animal science. Steve currently manages a 1600ha mixed farm in the wheatbelt of WA. Raquel has three years experience working on farms, including 14 months working abroad in Switzerland. We have relocated a number of times interstate to pursue opportunities that broaden our knowledge and networks. We have purchased our first farm investment three years ago; a 160ha property in south west Vic.

Why are you passionate about farming?

We are both passionate about farming and food. Our interest is in regenerative farming by using livestock in a planned rotational grazing model to improve soil health, lower inputs and produce a healthier product that we can market direct with our consumers. Our dream is to be able to both work in a full time capacity in the business.

Best days of being a farmer:

Our dream would be to have the capacity to both work in the farming business full time. Steve would be involved in checking and moving the livestock as part of the planned grazing rotation, while Raquel would be using her outgoing and bubbly personality to direct market and engage with the customers who are buying our produce from us. We would love to raise our children as part of our business and they would grow to understand and appreciate where their food comes from and how it is produced.
