What have you been doing to get farm ready?

We currently run 120 cows breeding cows and 650 merino ewes. We have been growing our stock numbers with the vision to be in a better position to purchase our own farm. We market our beef as a grass fed product to local customers under our own brand "Hicks Country Beef".

Why are you passionate about farming?

I was born on a farm and always has a passion for livestock. My career as a greenkeeper in some ways is similar to farming growing the best quality grass for a specific purpose. I love animals, I love soils, I love grass. Farming is my passion.

Best days of being a farmer:

My dream farm is in the Albury Wodonga region. My best day would be waking up before dawn and checking the calving cows to find beautiful new calfs enjoying their first drink. Heading back to the house to have breakfast with my wife and kids, then droping the kids at the school bus then into a days work on the farm.
